Medusa PRO Box is a professional phone flashing and mobile unlocking tool that lets you work with a wide range of Samsung, Huawei, LG, Motorola, Siemens, Sony Ericsson, Vodafone, ZTE and other mobile devices through JTAG, USB and MMC interfaces. The main intended purpose of Medusa PRO Box is repairing dead boots of the devices (mobile phones, PDAs, modems, etc.) or these devices recovery, until they become fully operational. Medusa PRO Box Software is a windows application for Medusa PRO Box, provides convenient interface for end user.

SRF file could be taken from the device or read out from Full Flash file in binary format. This feature allows the user (without developer’s assistance) add devices to the list of supported models, which are not officially supported yet. User will be allowed to upload that custom SRF file into separate section of Support Zone for further analysis by developers. If custom SRF file would be recognized as a legitimate and correct, name (or nickname) of the author will be presented in the following update. Thus, user has been given the opportunity to participate in the development of Medusa PRO and became known in certain circles. - Built-in Download manager

- Sony Factory Repair feature has been released!
You can try to repair boot on Sony devices via eMMC by using original Sony firmware («*.ftf» and "*.SIN_FILE_SET" versions of firmware are supported)
This feature can be useful in case, if you don’t have the same working device to prepare Boot Repair file or device you want to repair currently is not supported.
Note, device should have non-damaged native TA (Trim Area), otherwise device will not be repaired. We recommended to make backup of TA before repairing.
Also, software will automatically try to detect and backup (read) TA partition from the phone to «Backup» folder before repairing.

Samsung Smart Report
This feature shows extended info (check state) of Samsung eMMC chip such as: number of eMMC banks, initialization bad block count, optimal trim size and other information.
Samsung eMMC Factory Format
This feature is intended to format Samsung eMMC chips.
Note, that after performing Factory Format operation all eMMC data will be erased!
Samsung eMMC Write CSD
This feature allows you to write data to CSD register in Samsung eMMC chips.
Samsung eMMC Write/Update firmware
This feature allows you to update/write eMMC firmware on Samsung eMMC chip.
If eMMC is not connected in Normal (General) Mode, to write eMMC firmware you should force it into Boot Mode using TestPoint.
With this update we have added support and firmware for the following Samsung eMMC chips:

- KMN5U000ZM-B203 [N5U00M]
- KMKJS000VM-B309 [KJS00M]

To write/update firmware in mentioned above eMMC chips, do the following:
Select «eMMC» interface option
Select «Brand: eMMC_chips»
Select eMMC chip part number in «Model:» software list
Press «Help» button to view eMMC pinout and TestPoint picture. Acknowledge the manual.
Solder all necessary wires to connect eMMC (if necessary, solder TP wire to force eMMC into Boot Mode, Product name will be displayed as 000000)
Press «Connect» button to connect eMMC (if necessary, connect TP to GND)
When connection is successful, release (disconnect) TP wire from GND and go to «eMMC service» tab in the software
Press «Write/Update firmware» button, select proper eMMC chip from the list and press "Write/Update eMMC firmware" button
NOTE: PLEASE DON’T SELECT INCORRECT eMMC (WITH NON MATCHING PART NUMBER)! WRITING INCORRECT FIRMWARE WILL DAMAGE YOUR EMMC!
- Box firmware has been updated! To update firmware automatically, it is necessary to connect the Box and only then run the software. Also, you can update Box firmware manually via «Update Box Firmware» button at «Welcome» tab in Medusa Pro software.
Note, it won't be possible to use mentioned above Samsung eMMC features without updating Box firmware!
- Released writing factory firmware via USB for devices, based on Qualcomm CPUs.
This feature («Repair devices based on Qualcomm CPU’s using XML files (*.xml)») allows you to Repair/Write factory firmware on devices,
based on Qualcomm CPUs using firmware with «rawprogram0.xml» and «patch0.xml».
To make Repair/Write firmware, do the following:
Connect the device to PC in «Qualcomm…9008…» Mode. If necessary, use TP
Select «USB» interface option
Select «Brand: Custom Setting»
Select proper «Device (Core)»
Select proper Qualcomm loader in «Loader» list
Press «Connect» button and wait while device will be connected
Go to «Factory repair» tab
Press «Repair devices based on Qualcomm CPU’s using XML files (*.xml)» button
Select «rawprogram0.xml» and «patch0.xml» files
Press «Write» button to write selected firmware
Note: some firmware’s XML may contain «modemst1» and «modemst2» partitions for writing.
Writing of these partitions may lead to loosing phone’s IMEI and calibration data.
Software will automatically deselect and skip writing of these partitions.
If you need to write these partitions, you should manually select (check) them and confirm writing.
Also, software will automatically make backup (read) these partitions form the phone to «Backup» folder before writing firmware.
- Added possibility to make Repair or Write flash without write data verification («Write data verification» option).
To make Smart Repair/Factory Repair/Write flash without write data verification, do the following:
connect the device, deselect (uncheck) «Write data verification» option in the software and perform Smart Repair/Factory Repair/Write flash operation.
- Made some GUI changes.

With this feature you can repair different devices via eMMC, which are based on MediaTek CPUs.
To repair such devices, you should perform the next steps:
I. If device eMMC is not damaged
- Solder the necessary eMMC wires
- Connect the device
- Go to «Factory Repair» tab in the Software
- Press «Repair devices based on MediaTek CPU's using scatter» button
- Select proper scatter and necessary files
- Press «Write partitions» button
- Device repair is done
II. If device eMMC is damaged
If eMMC chip is damaged, you can replace it to similar Samsung eMMC chip.
You should have CID and know properties (Boot1, Boot2, RPMB partitions’ sizes) of eMMC, which you want to replace.
- Connect Samsung eMMC to Box (via soldering eMMC wires or via eMMC adapter)
- Press «eMMC geometry edit» button, enter necessary Boot1, Boot2, RPMB partitions’ sizes and set them
- Write proper CID of eMMC, which you want to replace
- Go to «Factory Repair» tab in the Software
- Press «Repair devices based on MediaTek CPU's using scatter» button
- Select proper scatter and necessary files
- Press «Write partitions» button
- After writing will be complete, replace device’s eMMC chip to programmed Samsung eMMC
- Assemble the device and power it on. Device repair is done
- Added «Remove write protect» feature for Samsung eMMC flash chips
- Added «eMMC geometry edit» feature for Samsung eMMC. With this option you can set Boot1, Boot2, RPMB partitions’ size for Samsung eMMC

Please pay attention! As you may have noticed, there is a minor issue with early Medusa PRO boxes firmware update. For those who have troubles with updating their box firmware version to 1.11 we introduce the so called "compatibility mode" - possibility to use all the latest software versions with old box firmware, but sacrificing some firmware-based improvements.
When you run software 1.2.0 for the first time it will attempt to update your box firmware to 1.11 if needed. If it fails to do so you will see "box status: not found" message.
To switch the software to "compatibility mode" do the following:
1. Close Medusa PRO software
2. Reconnect the box
3. Launch 1.2.0 software again
Also, keep in mind that non-updatable boxes are covered with warranty and entitled for replacement by authorized resellers.
And those who just intends a purchase - ask your reseller to update box firmware before shipping for your own peace of mind.

- Released Resize/Repartition feature - possibility to resize/repartition eMMC flash with EFI partition table! One button click only!
This new feature is important and should be used when you decide to replace your flash memory, use another chip with bigger or less flash memory size.
Also, Resize/Repartition feature will come handy when you performed recovery operation and want the device to recognize the amount of available memory correctly.
For example, you have a device with 16GB flash chip and corresponding restore file, created with the same device, with the same amount of memory – also 16GB.
You changed the original flash chip on another flash chip with bigger capacity – 32GB and performed the restore operation, using recovery file (Repair File), which has been created on a similar device with 16GB flash memory size.
As a result, after recovery operation, device will recognize 16GB only of new flash memory chip. To be able to access all 32GB on your new chip you have to perform Resize/Repartition operation!
Note: Not all versions of firmware support repartition/resize operation.
To perform Resize/Repartition do the following:
- Connect device via eMMC
- Go to «eMMC service» tab
- Press «Resize/Repartition» button
- Press «Autorepartition» button - software will perform Resize/Repartition operation with the real (maximum available) flash size
- Or press «Set size» button - software will perform Resize/Repartition operation with custom size, which you have set in bytes
- After «Resize/Repartition» ends make Factory Data reset from phone Settings.
- Released ADB tool - possibility to read flash via ADB interface!
To work with ABD complete the following steps:
- Root device
- Turn on USB Debugging Mode in the menu of the device
- Install necessary ADB drivers
- Select «ABD» interface in the software
- Press «Connect» button in the software to connect device via ADB and read device info
After successfully connection you will able to:
- Read necessary device partitions (software will automatically detect the device partitions, if they are not damaged or partition table is present).
You can read selected partitions into «*.mpt» file or into separate binary («*.bin») files (just select «Read each partition into separate binary («*.bin») file» option in the software before read).
- Read Full Flash.
- Read custom flash (with size that you required).
- Improved Content Extractor:
- Fixed contacts search operation for old Android versions (for old Android versions it is necessary to uncheck «Parse user data only» option in the software).
- Fixed the incorrect showing process progress of software Progress Bar for some operations.
- Fixed «Cancel» button operation problem in some cases.
- Increased parsing data speed.
- All pinouts and repair procedures described in the manual ("Help" button in the Software)

You can try to repair Samsung devices via eMMC by using original Samsung firmware * ("*.tar", "*.md5" versions of firmware are supported!).
This feature can be useful in case, if you haven’t got the working device to prepare Repair file or haven’t got a chance to read out Full flash; or device you want to repair currently is not supported.
